With so much advice and information out there for community groups and clubs, it can be unclear as to what action to take.
As England begins a new period of national restrictions, the days and weeks ahead will be challenging for everyone involved in community and grassroots physical activity and sport, as well as in all the activities impacted by the new restrictions. Here we have listed some of the support that is currently available.

The new restrictions mean that from 5 November 2020 you can undertake unlimited outdoor exercise with:
- people that you live with
- your support bubble
- one person from another household
- children under school age and those with severe disabilities who are accompanied by parents or carers will not count towards the limit on two people meeting outdoors.
If you are a personal trainer:
- 1:1 personal training can take place with someone from another household in an outdoor public space, while observing the existing risk assessment, social distancing and hygiene guidance
- indoor personal training or other activity is not allowed with anyone outside of your own household
- you cannot train more than one person outdoors at a time, even if they are from the same household
- you can work with multiple clients in the same day, as long as there is no overlap between sessions
- you should work locally wherever possible, but you are free to travel if necessary.
All indoor and outdoor leisure facilities will be required to close, including:
- leisure centres, outdoor and indoor gyms, swimming pools and sports facilities
- golf courses, driving ranges and dance studios
- stables and riding centres, soft play facilities
- climbing walls and climbing centres, archery and shooting ranges, water and theme parks
- community halls, studios and home gyms
- basketball, tennis courts, outdoor gyms and skateparks

Colder weather and darker nights will make it feel harder for people to be active alongside current restrictions.
Sport England have launched a winter toolkit to be help people to be active through autumn and winter. This online toolkit has lots of useful resources that could help you and your club or group stay active virtually.
Supporting disability sport and physical activity
Marc Woods, Chair of CIMSPA and former Paralympic swimmer, will be hosting an event with fellow leaders from Activity Alliance, Sport England and ukactive. The session will explore how we can collectively deliver an inclusive response to Covid-19 and the need for innovative and accessible responses at all levels of sport and leisure. Book your place.
