Free Illuminated Swim session for families

Illuminated Swim is an interactive light installation that transforms swimming pools into stunning artwork. As visitors swim across the pool, clouds of colours will appear, creating an electric, vibrant atmosphere. Audiences can swim at GL1 Leisure Centre, immersed in a stunning visual colourful display, alongside music created by young people from Gloucester-based The Music Works.

This playful art swimming experience encourages well-being for people whilst immersed in the installation. The lights and music will invoke a sunset swim for the evening swim sessions, and a playful one in the day at the weekend for families. Come and play with this interactive art installation at GL1.

Coloured clouds hover over the water and, as the outside light fades, the colours change inside and the coloured clouds of mist become more and more visible, creating a unique live experience. The vision for the installation is to create a painting that the audience could dive into. Tine Bech looked at paintings by Rothko, planning and creating the installation as a massive immersive painting that participants could swim in. Active Gloucestershire are giving away 100 free tickets to families in Gloucester on behalf of Gloucester City Council.

The free session will take place on Sunday 6th March, 11 am until 12 noon. (Places must be booked in advance. Booking closes on Friday 4 March, 5pm).
