If you have a disability or long term health condition, joining in with physical activity clubs and groups can be difficult.

 

We are working together with organisations, groups, clubs and communities across Gloucestershire to make being active normal and easy for everyone and make it so that everyone can be active in their local space.

 

There are a variety of organisations, clubs and groups in Gloucestershire who offer physical activities specifically for people with disabilities and long term health conditions. We have gathered a list of some of the best.

 

BEAM! Gymnastics Activity Provider

 

  • Cirencester

  • Additional emotional, physical, behavioural and sensory challenges

Inclusion is at the heart of everything BEAM! does. Supporting the children to reach their ‘I can’ statements, BEAM! focuses on celebrating individual success through movement.

 

Longlevens MAR Sports Club 

 

  • Gloucester
  • Mixed ability rugby
  • Mixed ability (disabled and non-disabled participants)
  • 17+ Years

 

An opportunity to be competitive, or simply participate as a recreational player. To play contact, or take a step back from the physical impact. Longlevens MAR has a place on patch for everyone. It is an opportunity to play rugby in a way that works for you.

 

DLK Inclusion Sports Activity Provider

Set up during the pandemic, DLK Inclusion Sports aspires to provide schools and communities activity session that are suitable for all. With some of their community walking rugby sessions at one of Gloucestershire’s most iconic locations – Gloucester Cathedral!

Providing facilities and activities to suit everyone, the Aspire Trust has lots of inclusive activity sessions held between their two Gloucester-based locations (GL1 and Oxstalls).

 

Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation Activity Provider

Changing views on cricket. Gloucestershire’s Cricket Foundation run a number of inclusive sessions across the county to suit the needs of all young people. From table cricket (it’s worth researching!), to Super1s, there are lots of different ways to get involved. And families are welcome to join in too!

Goals Beyond Grass (GBG) Activity Provider

The home of powerchair football in the county. Ever heard of it? Goals Beyond Grass are doing amazing work to grow the profile of powerchair football across the county, providing opportunities for all to have a go. Alongside their powerchair football, GBG provide a huge range of inclusive activities including ‘GBG Bikes’, boccia, and PAN disability football.

 

Allsorts Activity Provider / Advocacy

A frontrunner in advocacy, activities and support, Allsorts provide affordable, accessible, and welcoming opportunities for young people and their families. From dance, to football, to yoga, to sensory play sessions, there is a vast range of activities on offer. 

 

Visually Impaired Physical Activity Gloucestershire (VIPA Glos) Activity Provider / Advocacy

  • Adults

 

VIPA Glos is a leader in Gloucestershire for supporting people living with a visual impairment to get active, participate in sport, and compete at competitions across the country. VIPA Glos currently runs VI tennis sessions at Oxstalls Tennis Centre, and has exciting plans to expand in the near future.

 

Gloucester Athletics Sports Club

  • All ages

 

Gloucester Athletics Track is home to some amazing track and field para-athletes, and there is always space for more! Providing opportunities to try frame running, and many other track and field events, there is a new adventure just round the ‘bend’ at the track.

 

Cotswold Crusaders Boccia Club Sports Club

  • Boccia
  • All abilities
  • All ages

 

Boccia is a sport that can be played by all. A target sport played with leather balls, Boccia England calls it a game of tactics, skill and tension. Cotswold Crusaders is a local boccia club providing opportunity to learn, take part and compete in the sport.

 

Together We Can Activity Club

  • Forest of Dean

  • 8 – 100 years

 

a focus on inclusion, socialising and having fun, Together We Can is a group for anyone from 8 years old, to 100, living with disabilities. The not-for-profit organisation provide a range of weekly activities and days out, including Zumba, pantomimes, and group BBQs.

 

Freedom Leisure Activity Provider / Leisure Facility

With multiple locations in the Forest of Dean, freedom leisure host a number of inclusive activities including swimming and multi sports, as well as offer adaptive gym equipment ensuring there are options for all. 

 

Tandumonium Activity Provider

  • Cheltenham
  • Tandem cycling
  • Visual Impairment
  • Adults

 

This is community group was created with the aim to ‘promote cycling amongst the visually impaired of Cheltenham and the surrounding area, and to strengthen the ties between the local visually impaired and sighted communities’. Tandumonium creates social and active opportunities by using tandem bikes to bring people together.
