Case study: Cinderford
In November 2023, the Active Gloucestershire place team embarked upon an exciting journey to work within a new area of the county – Cinderford. Our goals were to encourage collaboration across organisations, better understand the barriers and enablers to physical activity within the town and start to establish the conditions for physical activity to take place.
Our approach
We wanted to test three ways of working:
- relationship building
- systems modelling to understand barriers and opportunities
- physical activity interventions.
We were keen to not only understand the impact that each of these elements had, but how they interacted with and influenced each other to improve the chances of creating systemic change within the town.
This short film showcases the journey so far – it highlights how fostering trust, creating collaborative spaces, and strengthening local connections are beginning to drive positive change.
