Active Environments
Where we live, work and play matters.
The places and spaces around us – including where we live, work, study and spend our leisure time – can have a significant impact on how and when we move, contributing to our overall activity levels.
By making it easier for people to walk and cycle, by better design and by using the built and natural environments we can help people to move more and improve their health and wellbeing.
Active Gloucestershire is working to support communities and agencies in designing, adapting and investing in places so that they support more active lifestyles. ‘Active design’ of our streets and public spaces contributes to good public health, increased active travel, greater connectivity, improved sustainability and a general sense of wellbeing.
On this page you can find links to lots of helpful resources to support the development of places and spaces for physical activity.
