Fall-Proof
Your easy to use strength and balance plan
What is Fall-Proof?
Fall-Proof is a Gloucestershire-wide campaign and strength and balance programme, developed by Active Gloucestershire, in partnership with NHS Gloucestershire, that aims to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining strength, balance and mobility as we age. The programme provides information, resources and practical support to help people understand their own capabilities and build strength and balance activities into their daily routines.
At the heart of the programme is an easy-to-follow strength and balance plan, supported by exercise guides and Move to Improve reminder cards that can be placed around the home to encourage regular activity. These simple exercises are designed to help people stay strong, steady and independent, reducing their risk of falls and helping them continue to do the everyday activities they enjoy.
Alongside the self-guided resources, Fall-Proof also connects people with friendly, supportive strength and balance exercise sessions in their local communities. Through regular participation, individuals can improve their balance, build physical strength, increase their confidence and maintain their independence for longer. Ultimately, Fall-Proof empowers people across Gloucestershire to stay active, reduce their risk of falling, and live well as they age.

Falls Assessment and Education Service
Falls Prevention Education Session
As Health and Exercise Practitioners, we are available to deliver education to groups on falls awareness and prevention of falls. Our presentation lasts around 40 minutes and can be tailored to suit the needs of the group. At the end of our talk, we can answer questions and give advice to individuals where needed. We also signpost to other services that would be of benefit. If a presentation isn’t suitable, we can host an informal session, where we can talk to people in smaller groups. This is completely free of charge.
Falls Assessment and Education Service Referral Form
If you have fallen two or more times within the last 6 months, you may be eligible to see one of the Falls Assessment and Education Service falls physiotherapists. They will carry out a range of assessments to better understand your needs and identify the most appropriate referral pathways and interventions to help reduce your risk of future falls.
