Welcome to the Play Their Way Ambassador Programme for Community Builders
This programme is designed for individuals passionate about child-first coaching, promoting children’s rights, and helping to shape the future of sports coaching in Gloucestershire. Our ambassadors act as community builders, mentors, and advocates for young people, placing their voices, choices, and journeys at the heart of all sporting sessions.
What is a Play Their Way Community Builder?
A Play Their Way Community Builder is:
- Passionate about child-first coaching and sports.
- An advocate for children’s rights – ensuring they are heard, can play freely, and are supported in their development.
- A mentor, supporting others and offering guidance.
- A champion for change, driving innovation and improvement in coaching methods.
- A great communicator and networker.
- Experienced in working with young people and adopting new approaches.
- A self-starter, ready to take initiative.
Responsibilities of a Community Builder
As a Play Their Way Community Builder, you will:
- Engage in all training and on-boarding provided by Active Gloucestershire and Play Their Way.
- Develop a strong understanding of child-first coaching in the region, with guidance from Active Gloucestershire and Play Their Way.
- Build a network of coaches within your area to champion and support the #Voice, #Choice, and #Journey approach.
- Share the ethos of Play Their Way, adapting and evolving the ideas based on your unique experiences and stories.
- Promote Play Their Way through social media, presentations, and network events.
- Collect and share success stories with Active Gloucestershire.
- Submit an impact report at the end of the programme to reflect on your journey and offer suggestions for future improvements.
Aims of the Programme
The Play Their Way Ambassador Programme aims to:
- Increase the number of clubs supporting child-first coaching.
- Place young people’s voices, choices, and journeys at the core of coaching sessions.
- Raise awareness of child-first coaching and the United Nations Rights of the Child.
- Build a community of coaches who share knowledge, ideas, and support for each other.
- Create valuable resources to promote child-first coaching across the region.
What’s Included in the Programme?
As a Play Their Way Ambassador, you’ll receive:
- Free training from Active Gloucestershire (valued at £150 per person).
- Paid ambassador roles:
- Social Influencer: £100 for 4 blog posts and monthly shared posts in collaboration with Active Gloucestershire.
- Coach Supporter: £250 for 2 network presentations, mentoring up to 5 coaches, and social media recognition.
- Coach Educator: Paid work (rate TBC) focused on coach training, development, and education within the network.
- Access to resources and support from UK Coaching and Play Their Way.
- Opportunities for personal coaching development through regular feedback and networking sessions.
