We can move is a movement of people committed to getting Gloucestershire physically active. We have shared principles which guide how we behave.
Keep them in mind, especially when things get challenging – they remind us why we are doing what we are doing.
Whatever project we are working on and whoever we are working with, we take action.
We try to be active ourselves in whatever way is right for us. We help our friends, family and colleagues to be active.
We challenge the things in all parts of our lives that don’t help to get us active. We learn together and we listen.
1. Build relationships of trust
Invest in the relationships, as much as you invest in getting things done.
2. Stand shoulder to shoulder
Everyone owns the movement. We can move does not belong to any one group or organisation. We are all in this together.
Ask for help when you need it, offer it when it will be useful and be prepared to grow ideas together.
3. Be curious
Learn! Look at insight and data to understand why other people do the things they do. Look to learn from people and about people who are nor like you. Look at our insight hub for articles and some of the latest research on physical activity.
4. Go where the energy is
Focus on strengths, emphasise the positive and gently challenge the negative.
5. Be brave
The best way to see if something works is to give it a go.
Give it a go…and tell us all about it.
