Active Communities Fund

The fund aims to reach community groups and local organisations, to minimise the impact of coronavirus on the activity levels of people from under-represented groups. Funds and further support can be used in the most appropriate ways to achieve the best outcomes for the community.

It will enable community groups working with target audiences including – Lower Income households, Ethnically Diverse Groups, Disabled People and People with Long-Term Health Conditions – to continue to exist and engage with their communities with a view to keeping them active during both the lockdown and recovery stages.

Community groups/organisations should:

  • Hold existing relationships with the target audience
  • Have a clear line of sight to physical activity delivery (it may not necessarily be the groups primary purpose)
  • Be constituted (or have a constituted group able to receive funds on their behalf)

Funds can support:

  • Hardship, to enable community groups to continue to exist in the next 6 months
  • Adapt, to enable groups to remain connected and keep participants active in the COVID-19 lockdowns and recovery phase
  • Support, provide advice and cover costs of training
  • Connectivity, increasing resilience, capacity and capability

Funds are not able to support:

  • Capital works (construction or refurbishment of property, putting up temporary buildings or land improvement)
  • Any private business or profit-making organisations unless they are a Social Enterprise or Community Interest Company
  • Retrospective costs

If interested please submit an Expression of Interest form and a member of staff will contact you to discuss further.

Please note that ‘Active Communities Covid19 recovery fund’ is a localised name for the national investment, the ‘Tackling Inequalities Fund’.
